Olefin fabric classification

May 25, 2020

Olefin fabric has excellent wicking effect, so the important uses of clothing are sportswear, gymnastics wear and underwear, and the important uses are non-woven fabrics and yarns used for carpet surface. Olefin fabrics can also be used as decorative fabrics, industrial fabrics (such as filter cloths, bag packaging cloths) and geotextiles.

Olefin fabric can be divided into long fiber, short fiber, spunbond nonwoven fabric, meltblown nonwoven fabric, etc.

Olefin long fibers can be divided into ordinary long fibers and fine denier long fibers (monofilament fineness ≤2.2 dtex, which can be used in the production of apparel and decoration and some industrial filament products. Olefin fine denier long fibers have good gloss, soft feel and good drape. , Small density, suitable for the knitting industry, when interwoven with cotton, viscose yarn, silk, spandex, etc. into cotton cover acrylic, silk cover acrylic and other products, it is an ideal material for making high-end sportswear, T-shirts and so on.

Most of the production process of olefin staple fiber adopts porous, low-speed, continuous process, namely short spinning process. Olefin short fiber blended with cotton can be made into polypropylene cotton cloth and sheets, that is, fiber and viscose blended can be used as blankets, olefin pure and blended yarns, olefin blankets, carpets, and olefin cotton fume cigarette filter. The thickness of the fiber for sanitary products is 1.5-2.5 dtex, and the thickness of the fiber for the ground fabric is 5-10 dtex. The fiber length is 1.5-200.0 mm, depending on the use of the fiber. The short fiber length used for concrete is 1.5-200.0 mm, the length used for diapers is generally 40.0 mm, and the length used for floor fabrics is 60.0 mm.

Spunbond non-woven fabric, also known as filament non-woven fabric, is made by melting olefin raw material through extrusion spinning, stretching, mesh laying, and adhesive forming. It has the characteristics of short process, low cost, high productivity, excellent product performance and wide range of uses. Olefin non-woven fabrics are widely used in various fields of production and life (such as disposable medical and health supplies, disposable antifouling clothing, agricultural fabrics, furniture fabrics, shoe linings, etc.).

The fibers produced by the melt-blown non-woven fabric technology are very fine (up to 0.25 μm). The melt-blown fabric has a large specific surface area, small pores and large porosity, so its filterability, shielding properties and oil absorption properties are used. Non-woven fabrics produced by other separate processes are difficult to possess. Melt-blown non-woven fabrics are widely used in medical and health, thermal insulation materials, filter materials and other fields.
